Violence Gallery
Violence in games may not be PC but it certaintly features as the main component within some of the best selling PC games. Heres a run down of the defining violent games of all time. (Click the images for enlargements)

Max Payne
Borrowing ideas from Hollywood movies (Pay Back, and The Matrix) Max Payne gives you you an ultra cool anti-hero with a special feature to slow down the action in short stints to allow you to take on multiple targets and dodge bullets at the same time.

Soldier of Fortune 2
When first person shooters were slowly becoming to look tame, along came Soldier of Fortune. You could feel their pain when limbs tore off with a well placed shogun blast or when a groin shot left the target writhing in pain to the ground. The second installment offers more of the same but even more realistic death animations.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
The single player game is good but didn't set the world on fire, but as a multiplayer it's exceptional. Not overly gory, but superbly violent by anyones standards. Based on WWII weaponary (Well mostly) you will know what to expect - machine guns, flame throwers, grenades, rocket launchers, etc.. Get online to get the best from this game.

Quake III Arena
Needs no introduction and the inspiration for many a FPS. Based enitrely on multiplayer gaming instead of mission based plot lines, it offers single player versus AI combatants or unbeatable online action. Still a benchmark for all game developers to follow.

Kingpin
The most controversal game in its time of release, Kingpin was a no holds barred experience of brawling, shooting, and bad language. Gameplay was a bit suspect in sections and difficulty level often frustrated. All told, 100% violence and little else.

Web: www.interplay.com/kingpin/

Duke Nukem Forever
It's certainly taking forever to hit the shelves, but we all hope the delays are purposeful from the developers cramming in more into what is promising to be one of the the finest FPS's ever. Visit the Web site for more grabs and a downloable movie of thing to come.

Aliens vs Predator 2
Few games are able to create a atmosphere so tense that you can feel your heart pounding. Aliens vs Predator can and does using a mixture of excellent visuals and some of the best uses of sound we've come across in a game.

Web: www.avp2.sierra.com

Hitman 2
It's a game based on being a professional assasin. So you'd expect nothing less than a kill-fest. Well you won't be disapointed with varied gameplay styles such as stealth missions.

Web: www.hitman2.com

Hooligans
Innovative but dangerously controversial. When the censors were just getting used the Grand Theft Auto, here comes the next household name in violent games. Travel around europe and control a group of football hooligans and cause mayhem, Real Time Strategy style.
